Great news on the Members Project front! American Express is awarding $100,000 to the four other semi-finalists who made it into the Top 5. All of the proceeds will go to fulfilling projects on our site. In this competition, being #2 still means getting much-needed resources into classrooms! We would also like to extend our congratulations to Dr. Gregory Allgood, whose project won the American Express Members Project. Safe water for children is an outcome worth celebrating. Comments

The DonorsChoose.org tech team has been working hard all summer to prepare DonorsChoose.org to open to teachers in all 50 states. Some of the new and improved functionality is strictly behind-the-scenes, while other updates will change the donor or teacher user experience…all for the better, we hope! To increase awareness of the changes and explain some of the thinking behind them, we thought it’d be a good idea to talk about some of the changes in our new blog. At DonorsChoose.org, one of the elements of our philosophy is full accountability and transparency.
